Title
A Phantasmagoria; -scene-Conjuring-up an Armed Skeleton
Description
In this print, Henry Addington, Hawkesbury and Charles James Fox are guised as the three witches in Macbeth. They cool their hell-broth in a cauldron, which the skeleton of Britannia stands in. Fox (right) is shown wearing the bonnet-rouge, seemingly cheering for the act happening in front of him. This print is Gillray telling the audience that Britannia has finally succumbed to French forces and is no longer able to be saved.
