About

This exhibition Beyond the Irony: A Reevaluation of James Gillray's Design for Naval Pillar was created in conjunction with the graduate art history course ARH 607: Digital Art History at the University of Oregon.

The aim of this course was to focus on the historical, theoretical and critical debates surrounding the Digital Humanities, with an emphasis on how these debates play out in studies of visual and material culture (so-called Digital Art History).

The exhibition focuses around British satirical printmaker James Gillray and his print Design For Naval Pillar. For a more detailed explanation of the project, please refer to the Exhibition Introduction

First-year graduate student Chyna Bounds created this exhibition.
